About the project

DZZD "Sheep Breeding without antibiotics"

implements a project under sub-measure 16.1 "Support for the formation and functioning of operational groups within the EMI" under measure 16 "Cooperation" BG06RDNP001-16.003

Project number: BG06RDNP001-16.003-0018

Project title: Use of probiotics as an alternative to antimicrobials to limit cross-resistance, carbon emissions and balanced nutrition of sheep depending on the quality and quantity of grazing.

DZZD "Sheep Breeding without antibiotics" was formed with the participation of:

- Agricultural Institute - Stara Zagora, which is a leading partner in this project and the only one in the country working on the development of systems for feeding ruminants in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions;-

 LB Lakt Bas - leaders in the development and implementation of probiotics;

- Agricultural House Ltd.

and 4 farmers with 4 farms,  raising sheep from various productive areas – for meat and milk.

The aim of the project is to use probiotics as an alternative to antimicrobials to limit cross-resistance in humans, reduce carbon emissions and a balanced diet of sheep depending on the quality and quantity of grazing.  improving the health status of adult sheep, increasing the content of N-3 unsaturated in meat and milk, increasing the efficiency of the farm and the productivity of sheep through balanced nutrition according to the physiological state and quality of the grass stand of the used pastures. With the innovative solutions offered, a significant problem is overcome not only in our country, but also worldwide in limiting the use of antibiotics, both for therapeutic and non-therapeutic purposes, reducing greenhouse gas emissions through feeding systems according to the quantity and quality of grazing and the physiological state of the animals.
